Our Journey

Over the past decade and a bit, our homesteading journey has taken us through several moves, different properties, and more lessons than we ever imagined. Because we rent our homestead, we’ve had to learn how to adapt, make the most of what we have, and figure out which animals truly fit our lifestyle—and which ones simply don’t!

Along the way, we’ve faced plenty of obstacles, including many health challenges within our family. There have been times when giving up would have been the easier choice, but somehow, we’ve kept holding on to the dream.

For the past 10 years, we’ve called Peterborough County home. During that time, we’ve grown, expanded, reassessed, and changed direction more than once. And our journey is still unfolding.

We’ve learned that homesteading doesn’t look the same for everyone. There is no single right way to do it. Sometimes it’s about raising animals, sometimes it’s growing food, sometimes it’s simply learning to be more self-sufficient—and sometimes it’s knowing when to change course.

For us, it’s about finding the path that works for our family, our land, our animals, and our circumstances.
